Why do I bring this up? Well, we've worked with a couple of Infusiasts on their web presence and online marketing and tried numerous times to get them to ask their customers if they'd be interested in appearing in some online videos showing the world how their life is better because of their services.
They continually decline.
Why? Because their customers are private people, who don't want to publicize their relationship with these companies..... at least, that's what they (the business owners) say.
Have they actually asked any of their customers? Nope.
Are these businesses or their services ones that people might be embarrassed by if they talk about it publicly? Nope.
Are their customers people with unusual personality traits that make them different from the vast majority of human beings in this age of sharing everything with everyone? Nope.
Based on plenty of previous experience, I can practically guarantee that if these business owners would just ask, they would be very surprised by the enthusiastic chorus of positive responses. Would they get some no's? Sure. But they would also get some yes's.
So why the resistance? In reality, it's fear. Asking for something from the people who pay your bills can be a scary thing, for sure, but if we don't do the things that scare us, we'll never do anything new. And if we never do anything new, we might as well call it quits right now.
So, are you going to ask or are you going to assume and continue doing what you've been doing, without actually knowing if you're right or wrong? And if you're wrong.... well, I'll let you figure out what that means for your business.
